Olive trees grow satisfactorily in the well drained sandy loam soils at The
Stiks. However, a number of natural causes, such as hail, dust storms, drought
and bird attack have resulted in poor yields. The grove came into
production in 2008. Fresh olives are cold pressed into extra virgin olive oil,
bottled and sold locally.
Based on the prolific flowering in 2009 (which
was
subsequently destroyed by the dust storm) the yield potential is promising for
future crops and higher yields.
